The beginning of a new year is always an exciting and hopeful time. While I've never fully gotten on the new year resolutions bandwagon - maybe because my birthday is so close to the new year and I would rather set goals for my next year - I do value the importance of setting new goals to become a better version of you! Here are some of my 2014 goals and year 25 goals.
Declutter my life. I'm sure all of the ladies can agree on one thing and that's we magically accumulate a lot of stuff during the year - clothes, accessories, books and other things. I want to learn to simplify my life and this includes getting rid of said stuff. (Jump starting this one by purging my closet and donating a trunk full today!)
Strive to be more active. I know this is totally clique and everyone's goal with a new year, but I think that's okay. For me this looks like drinking more water, setting weekly work out goals, saying yes to more whole foods and no to pizza and maybe running another half marathon?
Use my camera more. I love my Canon Rebel, but have never learned how to use it to it's full potential. I would love to sharpen my skills or lack there of, get photoshop and take a photography class or workshop.
Put down the remote. I recently heard the phrase that "leaders are readers" and this is something that I need to get better at this year. I love my shows. Always have, always will. With that being said, I need to be more discipline in putting down the remote and picking up a book and making better use of my free time.
Control the inner shop-a-holic. How can you fault a girl for wanting to look fly and buy pretty things? However, I need to control my spur of the moment shopping trips to just "look around". I also need to learn to buy better quality items that will last longer in my closet instead of those cute boots from Target that only last one season. This will help with the decluttering thing too, right?
Travel. I love going to new places and having new experiences. I would like to visit a few new cities and maybe put a stamp in the ole' passport this year. I am getting a kick start with this one by going to New York City in a week!
Grow the Beautiful Exchange community. I am excited and expectant for what will come of this little blog. I would like to see it grow and build a community of people. I am hopeful that it also encourages you to live a full life with purpose in 2014.
Be new every morning. Living with the Lord truly is a journey and a process of continuously being refined to be more like him. This year I hope to boldly love and serve those around me, to live and walk in his presence more than ever before and to ultimately start every morning being new and lavished by his grace and love and committing myself to him.
It's day 1 of 365 and anything is possible my friends. What do you want to be different in 2014?
